Dear All staffs and students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia,
Applied Algebra and Analysis Group (AAAG) will organize a workshop on Introduction to LaTeX on 13 November 2018 (Tuesday) from 8.00AM to 5.00PM. The workshop will be conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Muhainiah Mohd Ali from Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science, UTM Johor Bahru.
All staffs and students of Department of Mathematical Sciences are invited to participate in this workshop. The workshop is limited to the first 30 participants who send their registration form. The tentative schedule is given below.

8.00 AM : Registration of participants
8.30 AM : An Introduction to LaTeX
– Aligning symbols and tables
– Import pictures/ graphics/ tabling
10.00 AM : Break
10.30 AM : Bibliography and references
11.30 AM : Writing thesis using UTM Format
12.30 PM : Lunch break
2.00 PM : Writing thesis using UTM Format (continued)
4.30 PM : Refreshment
The registration fees are RM20 (for AAAG members) and RM50 (for non AAAG members) which covers all meals, certificate and workshop materials. If you wish to buy the LaTeX book written by PM Dr. Yusof Yaacob, it is priced at an additional RM40.

LaTeX is a document markup language and document preparation system for the TeX typesetting program. LaTeX is most widely used by mathematicians, scientists, engineers and others. Many international journals and conferences proceedings use LaTeX to prepare their documents.

This workshop will cover the following: – Introduction to LaTeX – Aligning math symbols and tables – Import picture, bibliography, references – Tabling & table of contents – Writing of thesis in LATEX with UTM’s format – Writing of an article for book chapter in LATEX – Writing of a journal article in LATEX The workshop will be conducted by Assoc Prof Dr Yusof Yaacob Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science, UTM Johor Bahru and Dr Nor Muhainiah Mohd Ali from Applied Algebra & Analysis Research Group & Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science, UTM Johor Bahru, assisted by 4 facilitators (see attached brochure for more info). All staffs and students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia are invited to participate in this workshop. Please refer to the attached tentative program for the details of this workshop. The workshop is limited to the first 40 participants who send their registration form with payment. Registration with payment (BY CASH) can be made at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science (C22 – 423) starting from 14 July 2014 -21 August 2014 at 10.00 a.m-12.00 noon (WEEKDAYS ONLY). The LATEX book is priced at an additional RM35. Please inform us earlier (latest by 21 August 2014) if you need the book.
