SURABAYA, Nov 13<\/strong> \u2014 Two students from Department of Biosciences, Faculty Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM): Abellyna Abraham and Alicia Lee Jia Wong supervised by Dr Nur Izzati Mohd Noh and co-supervised by Chm. Anthony Nyangson Anak Steven had completed a month-long research internship at Universitas Airlangga\u2019s Research Center for Bio-Molecule Engineering (BIOME) in October 2025, where they gained hands-on experience in whole genome sequencing of cyanobacteria, mastering DNA extraction, sequencing with Oxford Nanopore\u2019s PromethION 24, and bioinformatics analysis under expert mentorship. Beyond the lab, they joined BIOME\u2019s BiomeFert community outreach in Banyuwangi, promoting biofertilizers to local farmers, and engaged in cultural activities including visits to historical sites and agricultural communities.
