{"id":7761,"date":"2026-06-24T04:42:42","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T04:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science.utm.my\/biosciences\/?p=7761"},"modified":"2026-06-24T04:42:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T04:42:42","slug":"work-based-learning-wbl-and-research-led-teaching-rlt-to-fgv-maokil-palm-oil-mill-labis-johor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/science.utm.my\/biosciences\/work-based-learning-wbl-and-research-led-teaching-rlt-to-fgv-maokil-palm-oil-mill-labis-johor\/","title":{"rendered":"Work-Based Learning (WBL) and Research-Led Teaching (RLT) to FGV Maokil Palm Oil Mill, Labis, Johor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"xdj266r x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Bridging Classroom Knowledge with Industry Experience at FGV Maokil Palm Oil Mill&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">On 18 June 2026, undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Science, UTM participated in an academic and industrial visit to FGV Maokil Palm Oil Mill, Labis, Johor, as part of the department&#8217;s commitment to Work-Based Learning (WBL) and Research-Led Teaching (RLT).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The visit involved students from the following courses:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">SSCT 3203 \u2013 Industrial Waste Management<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;SSCT 3503 \u2013 Biorefinery Technology<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">MSCB 1223 \u2013 Environmental Bioengineering<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;MSCB 1523 \u2013 Industrial Technology and Bioreactor Design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Through this visit, students gained first-hand exposure to real industrial operations, including palm oil processing, waste and effluent management (POME), sustainability practices, process engineering, and environmental compliance. The experience provided valuable opportunities to connect theoretical concepts learned in the classroom with real-world industrial applications.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"html-span xexx8yu xyri2b x18d9i69 x1c1uobl x1hl2dhg x16tdsg8 x1vvkbs x3nfvp2 x1j61x8r x1fcty0u xdj266r xat24cr xm2jcoa x1mpyi22 xxymvpz xlup9mm x1kky2od\">S<\/span>pecial appreciation to the accompanying lecturers for their dedication in facilitating this experiential learning opportunity:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;Ts.
