About MJSMSM 2026<\/h3>\n

The Malaysia\u2013Japan Symposium on Mathematical and Statistical Modelling (MJSMSM) is a platform that promotes research collaboration and knowledge exchange between Malaysian and Japanese researchers in the fields of mathematical and statistical modelling. The inaugural symposium, MJSMSM 2025, was successfully held on 26 August 2025, attracting 126 participants from academia, industry, and government agencies from both countries.<\/p>\n

Building on this success, the 2nd Malaysia\u2013Japan Symposium on Mathematical and Statistical Modelling (MJSMSM 2026) will be held on 3 September 2026 as a special programme under the International Seminar on Mathematics in Industry (ISMI2026), which will take place from 2\u20133 September 2026.<\/p>\n

MJSMSM 2026 will feature invited presentations by researchers from Malaysia and Japan, a keynote address, and opportunities for networking and collaboration. The symposium will be conducted in a hybrid mode, with Malaysian participants attending physically and Japanese participants joining online. The event aims to further strengthen international partnerships and encourage the application of mathematical and statistical modelling to address real-world industrial, technological, and environmental challenges.<\/p>\n

As the creature survived the severe struggle for existence for a long time, they get many refined techniques on the life phenomenon. I transcribe such a life phenomenon in a numerical formula in my study. And I extract a technique from a creature and apply it industrially. There are various transportation networks such as a railway network, ant trail , blood vessel network and the leaf vein. They have the property that a used path develops. On the other hand, the path without quantity of use degenerates. This network is called an \u201cadaptive network\u201d. The network topology of the adaptive network varies (like capillary and aorta). It is the purpose of my study to understand the formation of such an adaptive network. In addition, I study action control using a variety of rhythms and voluntary morphosis of organisms.<\/p>\n

My research lies at the intersection of materials science and mathematical analysis. I have been mostly working on the mathematical modeling of micro-plasticity and phase transformations in Shape-Memory Alloys. More recently I have been working on the AI-assisted design of functional molecules.<\/p>\n

Associate Professor Dr. Normah Maan obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She is the Research Group Leader for the Dynamical System Modelling Research Group at the Faculty of Science and also a mentor at the faculty\u2019s SUNSHINE++ program, which nurtures research excellence in young academic staff. She is appointed as a Guest Editor for the Special Issue of Mathematics Journal -MDPI Editor.
Her research encompasses three main areas of Mathematical Modelling, which are Mathematical Modelling of Diseases and Environmental Problems with Optimal Control Strategy(such as Tumour-Immune Interaction, Breast Cancer, Dengue, and Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs)), Delay Differential Equations (DDEs) and Fuzzy Modelling.<\/p>\n
