Shazirawati Mohd Puzi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) where she has been a faculty member since 2002. Shazirawati graduated with 1st class honor degree in Industrial Mathematics from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2002. In 2004, she continued her studies at University of Sussex, UK for Masters degree. Upon completed the Masters degree, she came back to UTM to teach several mathematics subject for few years before pursued her Ph.D degree at UTM. Shazira completed her Ph.D in 2013 at UTM with three months internship at Old Dominion University, VA, USA.

Her research interests lie in the area of computational mathematics with a focus on numerical study. She has published several articles in the field of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), specifically in the subjects of neighborhood discovery and sensors integration in WSNs. Shazira also has intermediate skill in C++ language and has written several coding in her Ph.D study. Shazira is currently active in few committees at her department. These include the chief editor of Forum Matematik (department’s newsletter), faculty website maintainer, etc. She also has served on several conferences commitees, held by the department, specifically iCOMS 2007, ISM 2012 and SKSM23 2015.

Shazira is the proud and obsessed mother of two sons and two daughters. Prior to that all-encompassing-change, shazira enjoyed good food (who didn’t anyway?), movies, and she usually manages to read one book a month.

Shazira cannot live with cats.
