Johor Bahru, June 30, 2024 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) successfully hosted a virtual event titled “Talk and Sharing Sessions on Strategies and Opportunities for Industrial Training/Attachment, Sabbatical, and Postdoctoral” as part of the Faculty of Science (FS) Research Month 2024. The session, held via Webex, attracted a notable 100 participants from both the Faculty of Science and other UTM faculties.
Directed by Dr. Noraihan Afiqah Rawi, the session provided academic staff with valuable insights into applying for sabbatical leave, postdoctoral positions, and industrial training opportunities. Guest speaker Encik Mohd Nor Faizal Jamaluddin led the session, offering detailed guidance on the updated application processes and highlighting scholarship opportunities available within UTM and other institutions.
Participants benefited from several key aspects of the program, including a comprehensive understanding of UTM’s updated systems for sabbatical and postdoctoral applications, opportunities for professional growth through industrial attachments and collaborative research, and an enhanced platform for knowledge sharing. Attendees appreciated the clear explanations and practical advice on how to plan their academic and professional development.
Despite minor technical issues with the Webex platform, the event was a success, and organizers have proposed improvements for future sessions, such as scheduling the program to better accommodate staff from both UTM Johor Bahru and UTM Kuala Lumpur campuses. Moving forward, the Faculty of Science plans to offer more targeted workshops that delve deeper into specific opportunities, ensuring continued support for faculty members in their career development.
