Singaraja, Indonesia, 16 July 2024Prof. Dr. Niza Sarmin from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) captivated the academic community at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) with her lecture, “Beyond the Double Helix: A Journey from DNA Recombination to Unravelling Its Computational Tapestry.” Her discussion focused on how splicing theory in computational mathematics can be applied to genetics, particularly in DNA recombination.

Prof. Niza highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the work, opening pathways for international research collaboration between UTM and Undiksha. This collaboration aims to empower both students and faculty with opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research, enriching their academic experiences in computational genetics.

The event was hosted by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Undiksha, and was highly praised by faculty and students alike. The Dean of FMIPA, Dr. I Wayan Sukra Warpala, expressed excitement over future joint research projects.

This lecture emphasized Prof. Niza’s significant role in promoting innovative research and international academic collaboration, furthering the integration of mathematics and genetics for real-world applications.
