New Mathematical Model Enhances Curve Interpolation Using Fuzzy Logic
Dr. Mohammad Izat Emir Zulkifly, a distinguished academic from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Department of Mathematical Sciences, has been honored with the Silver Medal at the Semarak International Research Article Competition (SIRAC) 2024 II. His award-winning research, titled “Generation of Picture Fuzzy B-spline Curve Interpolation with Open Uniform Knot Vector,” offers an innovative approach to curve interpolation by integrating fuzzy logic into B-spline modeling.
This research is groundbreaking in its application of picture fuzzy sets—a higher-order fuzzy set that handles uncertainty with more nuanced information—to B-spline curve generation. By using an open uniform knot vector, Dr. Izat Emir’s work improves the accuracy and flexibility of curve interpolation, with practical applications in fields like computer graphics, engineering design, and data visualization.
The recognition of this research at SIRAC 2024 II showcases UTM’s leadership in developing cutting-edge mathematical models that push the boundaries of computational mathematics. Dr. Izat Emir’s work contributes significantly to both the theoretical advancement and the practical applications of fuzzy logic in scientific and industrial contexts.
The Faculty of Science proudly celebrates Dr. Mohammad Izat Emir Zulkifly for his outstanding contribution to the field of mathematical sciences and his well-deserved achievement at SIRAC 2024 II.
