Dr. Siti Mariam Norrulashikin and Team Recognized for Excellence in Financial Mathematics Research

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Faculty of Science has added another prestigious achievement to its growing list of accolades, with Dr. Siti Mariam Norrulashikin from the Department of Mathematical Sciences winning the Silver Medal at the Semarak International Research Article Competition (SIRAC) 2024 II. The award was given for her outstanding research article titled “Parameter Estimation Methods for Bivariate Copula in Financial Application.”

Dr. Siti Mariam’s research, supported by her team member Dr. Nur Arina Bazilah Kamisan, focused on improving parameter estimation methods for bivariate copula models, which are crucial in the analysis of dependencies between financial variables. This work is particularly important in risk management and financial modeling, providing enhanced tools for predicting and managing financial risks in complex markets.

The recognition at SIRAC 2024 II is a testament to UTM’s dedication to fostering cutting-edge research in both theoretical and applied mathematics. Dr. Siti Mariam’s work bridges the gap between mathematical theory and practical financial applications, highlighting the growing importance of interdisciplinary research in solving real-world problems.

The Faculty of Science congratulates Dr. Siti Mariam Norrulashikin and Dr. Nur Arina Bazilah Kamisan for their significant contribution to the field of financial mathematics. Their achievement at SIRAC 2024 II underscores UTM’s commitment to producing high-impact research that meets global standards.
