29 August 2024 | The 6th International Conference on Biosciences and Medical Engineering (ICBME2024) was officially inaugurated by YBhg. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Hj Aminuddin Bin Hassim, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), at the Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Held from 28 to 29 August 2024, the conference was organized by the Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CS Nano), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with UTM’s Department of Biosciences, the Department of Biotechnology at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology at Ondokuz Mayis University, Turkiye, and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Udayana University, Indonesia.

This prestigious conference, supported by Malaysia Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), was also part of the National Science Week 2024 celebrations. During the event, Dato’ Ts. Dr. Hj Aminuddin witnessed the launch of a product by Phyto Biznet Sdn Bhd and the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between UTM, Universitas Brawijaya Indonesia, and Asia Metropolitan University.

On the preceding day, 28 August 2024, the 5th Bionanotechnology Research Seminar (BioNanoSem) was held as a pre-conference event, featuring workshops and seminars on Nanocosmeceuticals and the National Nanotechnology Laboratory Network. This event was supported by the National Nanotechnology Centre (NNC) under MOSTI. Notable speakers included Ts. Mohd Helme bin Mohd Helan, Deputy Director of NNC, and En. Johan Iskandar bin Hassan, Managing Director of Nanoverify Sdn Bhd (NVSB). They shared insights on nanotechnology safety programs under NNC MOSTI and the NanoVerify certification program by Nano Malaysia Berhad (NMB) and NVSB.

ICBME2024 successfully brought together researchers, innovators, and industry leaders to discuss the latest advancements in biosciences and medical engineering, reinforcing the significance of biotechnology and nanotechnology in driving sustainable solutions for the future.
