Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Faculty of Science has seen four of its distinguished researchers awarded the Best Oral Presenter accolade at the International Seminar on Mathematics in Industry 2024 (ISMI2024). The awards recognize the faculty’s commitment to excellence in mathematical sciences, as each researcher presented impactful research that bridges mathematical theory and industrial application.

1. Dr. Nurul Aini Jaafar (Department of Mathematical Sciences) was awarded for her presentation on “Mean Concentration and Diffusion Coefficient through a Catheterized Artery with the Presence of Cosine and Sine Shaped Stenoses.” Her work provides insight into blood flow dynamics, offering potential applications in medical diagnostics.

2. Dr. Lim Yeou Jiann (Department of Mathematical Sciences) received the award for his research titled “Analysis of Carreau Fluids in Magnetohydrodynamic Natural Convection with Biot Heat Flux and Injection/Suction Effects.” His study enhances understanding in fluid mechanics, particularly relevant in industrial heat transfer.

3. Dr. Ahmad Qushairi Mohamad (Department of Mathematical Sciences) was recognized for his work on “Integrating Hybrid Nanofluid on Bioconvection Flow for a Brinkman Type Fluid in Channel,” a study that has potential applications in environmental and engineering fields by improving fluid dynamics modeling.

4. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhaila Ismail (Department of Mathematical Sciences) won for her presentation on “Numerical Simulation of Aqueous Humour Flow During Descemet Membrane Detachment under External Heat Sources,” offering advancements in ophthalmology through mathematical simulations.

These achievements highlight the Faculty of Science’s dedication to nurturing great minds and UTM’s vision of “Innovating Solutions” through impactful research. The management and staff of UTM’s Faculty of Science extend their heartfelt congratulations to each awardee for their remarkable accomplishments at ISMI2024.
