November 7, 2024 – The International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) 2024 marks another milestone in acknowledging the invaluable contributions of medical physicists worldwide. This year, the event is proudly hosted by the Faculty of Science, UTM, at the UTM-HELIXs facility. Medical physics professionals, students, and healthcare enthusiasts are welcomed to participate on-site or join online via Webex.

IDMP, celebrated every November 7 since 2013, is set on Marie Curie’s birthday to honor her pioneering work in radioactivity and its vital applications in healthcare. This year’s theme, “Inspiring the Next Generation of Medical Physicists,” highlights the critical role medical physicists play in advancing healthcare, ensuring patient safety, and fostering innovation.

A Thought-Provoking Program by Esteemed Experts

In collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Medical Physics (MAMP), the event presents a line-up of distinguished speakers covering various aspects of medical physics, from foundational development to future advancements:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noramaliza Mohd Noor, President of MAMP, will begin with an insightful talk on “The Development of Medical Physics in Malaysia.”
  • Prof. Dr. Yeong Chai Hong, President of the Southeast Asia Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (SEAFOMP), will address “Career Pathways in Medical Physics: South-East Asia Scenario.”
  • Prof. D.A. Bradley, Former President of the International Radiation Physics Society (IRPS), will share his vision on “Innovations in Medical Physics: Shaping the Future of Healthcare.”
  • Hospital Pengajar UPM (HPUPM) will demonstrate the routine role of a clinical medical physicist, giving a hands-on perspective on daily practices.
  • Ahmad Hafizuddin Ahmad Tajuddin, Regional Service Leader at United Imaging Healthcare, will explore the synergy between technical expertise and sales in medical physics equipment.

Join the Movement to Shape the Future of Healthcare

This event provides an excellent opportunity for all medical physicists, healthcare professionals, and students interested in the field. The session runs from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM (MYT), with E-certificates available for participants. Those unable to attend in person can join online via Webex.

Let’s honor the legacy of medical physics and the professionals advancing healthcare for a healthier, safer tomorrow. Join us to celebrate #IDMP2024 and make an impact in the field of medical physics!
