Johor Bahru, December 2024 – Dr. Nurashikin Ihsan, a Senior Lecturer from the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), delivered an insightful talk at the Petrosains PlaySmart Johor Bahru event on 28th December 2024. Her presentation, titled “Tiny Life, Big Impact: Biotechnology for a Greener Energy Future”, captivated the audience at the Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Johor.

The session was part of the PETRONAS Planting Tomorrow initiative, which aimed to educate and inspire communities about sustainable energy solutions and environmental stewardship. The program complemented the ongoing exhibition on Cleaner Energy Solutions, held from October 2024 to January 2025, showcasing innovative approaches such as sustainable aviation fuel and hydrogen energy.

Dr. Nurashikin’s talk explored the critical role of biotechnology in shaping a greener future. She highlighted how microorganisms can be harnessed for energy solutions and shared insights into cutting-edge research and its practical applications in addressing environmental challenges.
