Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Faculty of Science successfully organized an engaging sharing session titled “Tips and Tricks for FRGS Proposal” to support researchers in crafting compelling proposals for the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). The session was conducted online via Cisco Webex and attracted participants from various academic disciplines across the country.

The event featured Prof. Dr. Mohd. Shahir Shamsir Omar, an experienced researcher and grant recipient, who provided invaluable insights into the grant application process. Drawing from his extensive experience, Prof. Dr. Shahir highlighted the key elements of a strong FRGS proposal, including aligning with national research priorities, structuring objectives effectively, and addressing critical gaps in existing research.

Participants were guided through the intricacies of the evaluation criteria and common pitfalls to avoid. Prof. Dr. Shahir also shared practical tips on how to present innovative ideas and articulate their potential impact on the scientific community and society at large.

“Securing research funding is a critical step for advancing scientific inquiry. Sessions like these equip researchers with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the competitive funding landscape,” remarked Prof. Dr. Shahir.

The session, which ran from 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM, provided an opportunity for attendees to engage directly with the speaker during the Q&A segment. Participants appreciated the clarity of the presentation and the actionable advice shared.
