JOHOR BAHRU, 12 March 2025 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) continues to lead impactful community-driven research as Ts. ChM. Dr. Faizuan Bin Abdullah from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, secures RM110,000 in funding from the Dana Program Sejahtera Komuniti Madani (SejaTi MADANI) initiative.

The awarded project, titled “Penambahbaikan Mobiliti Penternakan Kerang dan Penghasilan Produk Hiliran Baharu Iaitu Kerang Tanpa Kulit Sejuk Beku dan Sambal Kerang Dari Estet Kerang Mukim Ayer Baloi, Pontian, Johor”, focuses on enhancing the mobility of shellfish farming and developing new downstream products. This initiative is expected to increase productivity, improve seafood processing methods, and create value-added products such as frozen de-shelled shellfish and sambal kerang.

This research aligns with Malaysia’s Madani Economy framework, aiming to uplift local communities through sustainable aquaculture practices and innovative food technology. By introducing advanced techniques in shellfish farming and improving product accessibility, the project will benefit the local economy and support small-scale fisheries in Johor.

The Faculty of Science, UTM, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Faizuan for his dedication to impactful research and community empowerment. This success highlights UTM’s continuous efforts in bridging scientific research with societal development.
