Johor Bahru, 22 April 2025 — The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was pleased to host a delegation from Seamaster Paint Malaysia for a strategic engagement aimed at exploring meaningful collaborations across various domains.

The visit, held at the Faculty of Science, facilitated dynamic discussions on research and development (R&D), analytical support, student training, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Both parties expressed strong enthusiasm in leveraging each other’s strengths to address industry challenges and enrich academic-industry cooperation.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Seamaster Paint Malaysia team for engaging in a productive and forward-looking discussion with UTM’s Faculty of Science. The following action items were identified to ensure the next steps in collaboration are clearly defined:

Seamaster Paint Malaysia to:

  1. Provide a list of technical challenges or current R&D focus areas.

  2. Indicate availability for undergraduate student internship placements for Chemistry students in the upcoming March 2026 term.

  3. Explore remote education opportunities for Seamaster staff with UTM.

  4. Highlight other potential areas where UTM can contribute to solving existing gaps.

UTM Faculty of Science to:

  1. Share research capabilities, available facilities, and expertise profiles (after receiving the technical focus areas from Seamaster).

  2. Provide information on CSR opportunities and community outreach programmes aligned with Seamaster’s corporate values.

  3. Arrange a follow-up on-site visit to Seamaster Paint Malaysia HQ for deeper engagement and site-based insights.


Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek, Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation & Development), expressed great optimism about this new partnership. “This collaboration signals the start of a mutually beneficial relationship. It’s a step forward in connecting academic expertise with real-world industrial needs, and more importantly, driving sustainable innovation.”
