
Skudai, 23 April 2025 – In an effort to strengthen the global research visibility and funding success of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), the Faculty of Science hosted an impactful workshop titled “Securing International Research Funding: Empowering Researchers for Global Grants”. The event took place from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Helix Room, C17 Building, and drew participation from researchers, postgraduate students, and academic staff across various disciplines.
The workshop featured a lineup of esteemed speakers from UTM’s Faculty of Science:

Dr. Juan Matmin from the Department of Chemistry, who shared valuable insights into the Toray Science and Technology Research Grant, a key funding avenue for cutting-edge scientific innovation.

Dr. Siti Salwa Alias from the Department of Physics, who guided attendees through the complexities of environmental grant applications and international collaboration strategies, with a focus on sustainability and impact.

Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam, Deputy Dean of Research, Development and Innovation, who captivated the audience with a session on building competitive proposals and boosting international research impact.
Participants gained practical knowledge on identifying suitable global funding sources, crafting compelling proposals, forming meaningful cross-border partnerships, and navigating the key criteria for success in grant applications.
This initiative is aligned with UTM’s strategic vision to elevate research excellence and global collaboration. By equipping researchers with the tools and know-how to secure international grants, the Faculty of Science continues to nurture a robust and impactful research culture at UTM.
