Skudai, 24 April 2025 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), welcomed an official delegation from Cemseal Industries Sdn. Bhd., Johor Bahru, to explore potential research collaboration in the fields of construction chemicals and advanced materials. The visit, held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, took place at the Main Meeting Room, Block C17, and was followed by lab visits within the Department of Chemistry.

The Cemseal delegation was led by Mr. Heng Meng Seng (CEO), accompanied by Mr. Hing Kai Sen (COO), Mr. Kang Ee Kin (Product Operational Manager), and QC Officers Ms. Nur Ishamina Binti Sharul Hisham, Ms. Seri Syahinda Binti Samsudin, Ms. Nor Hidayati Binti Mohd. Nazri, and Mr. Mohamad Amminuddin Bin Wahab.

The discussion session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam bin Nik Malek, Deputy Dean (Research, Development & Innovation), with support from Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Mohd Firdaus bin Abdul Wahab, Manager of External Relations. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Najaa Mustaffa, representing the Green Chemistry Research Group (GChem).

During the engagement, both sides identified several potential areas for collaboration, including the development of innovative and sustainable construction materials. The interactive session also covered possibilities for Final Year Projects (FYP), student internships, and joint product development initiatives.

The delegation was given a guided tour of selected research laboratories, offering a firsthand look at the faculty’s state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise in chemistry and materials science.

This visit marks an important step in fostering strategic academia-industry linkages. As a way forward, both parties agreed to conduct further meetings to refine collaboration scopes and draft formal agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Letter of Intent (LoI).

The Faculty of Science remains committed to supporting innovation and industrial partnerships that contribute to sustainable scientific advancement.
