Johor Bahru, 1 December 2025 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), successfully organised another instalment of the Science Seminar Series, bringing together academic experts to share insights on cutting-edge developments in nanomaterials and zoological genomics. The event took place from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at Auditorium Al-Razi, T02, and was attended by lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students, and international guests.
The seminar featured two distinguished speakers. Speaker 1, Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek from UTM, delivered a talk titled “Understanding Nanomaterials”, providing an accessible and insightful overview of the fundamentals, applications, and future directions of nanomaterials research. His presentation highlighted the importance of nanotechnology in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and advanced materials development—aligning closely with the research priorities of the Faculty of Science.
Speaker 2, Dr. Bagus Priambodo from Universitas Negeri Malang (UNM), Indonesia, presented “From Ecology to Genomics: A Zoology Perspective”, discussing the evolution of zoological studies from traditional ecological approaches to modern genomic techniques. His talk emphasised the growing role of molecular tools in biodiversity assessment, species conservation, and ecosystem understanding.
This session was particularly meaningful as it coincided with the visit of delegates from Universitas Negeri Malang to the Faculty of Science, strengthening academic ties between UTM and UNM. The cross-disciplinary nature of the seminar fostered dynamic discussions and encouraged future collaborative opportunities, especially in the areas of nanotechnology, ecology, and genomics.
The Faculty of Science continues to champion impactful research and knowledge-sharing initiatives under its tagline “Where Great Minds Are Nurtured.”
