Johor Bahru, 3–4 December 2025 — The Showcase Industri & Inovasi Fakulti Sains (SIIFS) 2025 successfully reaffirmed the Faculty of Science’s commitment to bridging academia and industry through impactful engagement, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships. Organised by the Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) in collaboration with the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the UTM–Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (UTM-CIAM), the two-day programme was held at the UTM Johor Bahru campus.

A key highlight was the Industry Sharing Session titled “Mathematics Beneath the Waves”, delivered by Ts. Kamarudin Ismail from iFactors Sdn. Bhd.. Attended by 58 participants, the session offered valuable industry perspectives on how applied mathematics underpins engineering optimisation, complex system management, and data-driven decision-making—enhancing students’ readiness for real-world industrial challenges.

SIIFS 2025 also featured industrial training interviews conducted by Sony Malaysia, providing students with first-hand exposure to recruitment processes and employer expectations. Thirteen students participated across two interview sessions, strengthening employability pathways and industry alignment.

Beyond student engagement, the programme facilitated strategic discussions between iFactors representatives, UTM-CIAM fellows, and departmental leadership, focusing on collaborative research, consultancy, and innovation-driven initiatives. These engagements culminated in the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between UTM-CIAM and iFactors Sdn. Bhd., marking a significant step towards sustained collaboration in applied mathematics and industry-focused research.

Overall, SIIFS 2025 reinforced its role as a dynamic platform for industry engagement—enhancing academic relevance, expanding professional networks, and nurturing future-ready graduates equipped with strong analytical and mathematical competencies.
