Johor Bahru, Malaysia – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) congratulates Dr. Huszalina Binti Hussin from the Faculty of Science on her successful award of the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) MRUN Grant, Phase 1/2025, amounting to RM237,565.00. The grant is awarded by the Centre for Community and Industry Network (CCIN), UTM, in recognition of the project’s strong potential for community impact and sustainable innovation.
The funded project, titled “Technology Transfer of Mussel Waste Processing Based on University Research Towards Green Entrepreneurship for Coastal Communities,” focuses on translating university-based research into practical solutions that benefit coastal populations. By valorising mussel (kupang) processing waste, the project aims to address environmental challenges while creating new economic opportunities through green entrepreneurship.
This initiative reflects UTM’s commitment to impactful research translation, bridging academic knowledge with industry and community needs. The project is expected to contribute to environmental sustainability, waste reduction, and income generation among coastal communities, aligning with national sustainability and circular economy agendas.
Dr. Huszalina will lead a multidisciplinary team comprising Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Fadhil Md Din, Prof. Madya ChM. Dr. Norahim Ibrahim, Dr. Nur Fatihah Tajul Arifin, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Shreeshivadasan Chelliapan, Dr. Norazlina Mohd Yasin, and Prof. Madya Ir. Dr. Husnul Azan Tajarudin. The collaboration brings together expertise in science, engineering, and sustainability to ensure effective technology transfer and community engagement.
