A multidisciplinary team from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has received The Best Award in the Industrial Technology category at the Virtual Innovation Competition 2026, organised by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The award was presented for the team’s innovative project entitled “Mesh Info V2: Understanding How Mesh Works.” The project highlights an effective approach to improving knowledge and understanding of mesh technology and its applications within an industrial and technical context.

The winning team comprised researchers and members from three UTM faculties:

  • Dr. Suzarina Ahmed Sukri, Faculty of Science
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeak Su Hoe, Faculty of Science
  • Dr. Mohd Ridza Mohd Haniffah, Faculty of Civil Engineering
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Razin Zainal Abidin, Faculty of Civil Engineering
  • Prof. Dr. Zulkepeli Majid, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying
  • Nurfarrrisha Asnida Khairul Akmar, Faculty of Science

This achievement reflects the strength of interdisciplinary collaboration at UTM, bringing together expertise in science, engineering, the built environment and surveying to develop an innovative project with relevance to industrial technology.

The recognition also demonstrates the team’s commitment to translating technical knowledge into meaningful and accessible innovation. Such initiatives support UTM’s aspiration to advance impactful research, technological development and sustainable solutions in line with the university’s ASCEND 2030 agenda.
