JOHOR BAHRU – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly congratulates Dr. Ahmad Qushairi Mohammad from the Department of Mathematical Sciences on successfully securing a research grant worth RM126,700 under the Exploratory and Transformative Research Grant (GET), Phase 2, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia.
The awarded research project, entitled “Exact Solutions and Machine Learning Analyses of Heat and Mass Transfer in MHD Casson Fluid Flow Through a Channel with Rotation, Inclination and Nanoparticles,” focuses on advancing mathematical modelling and artificial intelligence techniques to better understand complex fluid flow and heat transfer phenomena.
The research investigates the behaviour of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson fluids, a class of non-Newtonian fluids whose flow characteristics are influenced by magnetic fields. By examining fluid movement through rotating and inclined channels containing nanoparticles, the project aims to develop a deeper understanding of the physical mechanisms governing heat and mass transfer.
A key innovation of the project involves integrating exact mathematical solutions with machine learning approaches to analyse complex fluid dynamics. Exact solutions provide fundamental insights into fluid behaviour, while machine learning offers opportunities to identify complex relationships and efficiently predict flow characteristics under different operating conditions.
The incorporation of nanoparticles into fluid systems is particularly relevant to improving thermal properties and understanding heat transfer performance. Research in this area could contribute to future advances in thermal management, industrial fluid processing, cooling technologies, and engineering applications.
Through the integration of applied mathematics, computational fluid dynamics, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence, the project seeks to generate new theoretical knowledge and analytical approaches for solving challenging fluid mechanics problems.
This research highlights the growing importance of interdisciplinary mathematical sciences in supporting technological innovation. The findings could provide valuable foundations for developing more efficient modelling techniques applicable to complex engineering and industrial systems.
The successful acquisition of this competitive research grant reflects Dr. Ahmad Qushairi’s commitment to advancing innovative mathematical research with potential technological applications. This achievement further strengthens the Faculty of Science’s research excellence and aligns with UTM ASCEND 2030, particularly in promoting impactful scientific discoveries, artificial intelligence integration, and interdisciplinary research.
The Faculty of Science extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ahmad Qushairi Mohammad on this achievement and wishes him continued success in advancing mathematical modelling and machine learning research that contributes to scientific and technological development.
