JOHOR BAHRU – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly congratulates Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin from UTM and Prof. Dr. Liliek Susilowati from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Indonesia, on successfully securing the UNAIR International Research Collaboration Top 200 Grant, worth Rp91,810,000.

The awarded research project, entitled “Diametral Basis of Generalized Corona Graphs,” will be conducted over one year, from 20 July 2026 to 20 July 2027. This international collaboration focuses on advancing fundamental research in graph theory, a branch of mathematics that examines relationships and connections between objects within complex networks.

The research investigates the mathematical properties of generalized corona graphs, particularly their diametral characteristics and the identification of important vertices within graph structures. By studying these properties, the project aims to contribute new theoretical knowledge and mathematical approaches to understanding complex network configurations.

Graph theory plays an important role in various scientific and technological fields, including computer science, communication networks, data analysis, transportation systems, and network optimisation. Research on graph distances and structural properties provides mathematical foundations that may support future developments in these areas.

A key significance of this project lies in its contribution to pure mathematics and international research collaboration. By combining the expertise of researchers from UTM and Universitas Airlangga, the initiative provides opportunities for collaborative mathematical investigations, knowledge exchange, joint publications, and the development of new research directions.

The successful acquisition of this international research grant reflects the strong academic partnership between UTM and Universitas Airlangga, further strengthening research networks between Malaysia and Indonesia. It also demonstrates the Faculty of Science’s commitment to advancing fundamental mathematical research through meaningful international collaborations.

This achievement aligns with the aspirations of UTM ASCEND 2030, particularly in enhancing global research partnerships, promoting high-impact scholarly contributions, and strengthening UTM’s international research visibility.

The Faculty of Science extends its heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin and Prof. Dr. Liliek Susilowati on this achievement and wishes them continued success in implementing the research project and contributing to the advancement of mathematical sciences.
