Johor Bahru, 27 Aug 2024 – Dr. Faizuan Abdullah, a senior lecturer from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), has been honored with the Inventor Award under the Science and Technology Category during the Citra Karisma 2024 event.

Dr. Faizuan, a leading expert in oil separation and nanomaterials technologies, spearheads UTM’s Separation Science and Technology (SepSTec) research group. His expertise is highlighted in the development of cutting-edge technologies such as Oil2Wang™, Molluscure®, NanoBlast™, and NemaMed™, which have been pivotal in advancing environmental, food, and water safety through innovative chemical analysis techniques.

Having a deep interest in electrochemical analysis and environmental chemistry, Dr. Faizuan’s remarkable contributions have gained him numerous accolades. In 2017, he was awarded the National Intellectual Property Award for Best Patent. His research emphasizes problem-solving solutions for environmental contamination, food safety, and tropical disease prevention.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Faizuan humbly credited his achievements to his guiding principle, “Be The Best and Help the Rest,” underscoring his dedication to creating impactful innovations that benefit society.

His professional affiliations include memberships in esteemed organizations such as the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM), Young Scientist Network Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM), Malaysian Society for Analytical Sciences (ANALIS), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

This prestigious recognition reaffirms UTM’s commitment to fostering scientific breakthroughs, with Dr. Faizuan Abdullah as a shining example of the institution’s excellence in research and innovation.
