Johor Bahru, 25 June 2024 – The AAAG International Algebra Seminar (AIAS 2024) was successfully held at Lecture Hall 1, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Organized by the Applied Algebra and Analysis Group (AAAG) from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, the seminar brought together prominent researchers and scholars in the field of algebra from Malaysia and Indonesia.
With collaborative efforts from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and Universitas Mataram (Unram), the seminar showcased cutting-edge research and innovations in algebraic theories and applications. The event was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zarina Mohd Khalid, Director of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at UTM, who highlighted the importance of international collaborations in advancing mathematical research.
The seminar featured 22 presenters and 12 participants, representing various institutions including UTM, UiTM, ITB, Unram, and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Researchers ranging from undergraduate students to postgraduate scholars and academic staff presented their work on various topics, including topological indices, cryptography, and group theory.
Throughout the one-day event, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss their research findings, and build professional networks. The closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Hazzirah Izzati Mat Hassim, Chair of AIAS 2024, who emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among the participating institutions to further enhance research in algebra.
The event received positive feedback from participants, many of whom expressed interest in expanding future seminars to include more universities and extending the duration to allow for deeper discussions. AIAS 2024 successfully served as a platform for the dissemination of knowledge and the development of future research collaborations in the field of algebra.
