The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly congratulates Dr. Mohamad Hamdi Zainal Abidin for being selected as a 2025 Recipient (Round 1) of the prestigious ASEAN Research Collaboration Project funded by the Australian Government.
Dr. Hamdi’s project, titled “Sustainable Biomass Valorisation: Biological Activity of Deep Eutectic Solvent-Extracted Phenolic-Rich Compounds”, will be hosted at RMIT University, Australia, with UTM as the home institution. The project explores innovative biomass valorisation strategies for environmental and industrial sustainability.
The Australian Government, through its Education Department, is boosting Australia-Malaysia research partnerships under this initiative. Round 1 supports four outstanding early-career Malaysian researchers in collaborative projects with Australian institutions, focusing on vaccine production, drug efficacy, food preservation, and sustainable manufacturing. This effort strengthens shared expertise, promotes research commercialisation, and supports future economic development.
