KUALA LUMPUR, 19 September 2024 — A group of passionate educators from few faculty in UTM has won a Silver Medal at the 6th Innovative Practices in Higher Education Expo (I-PHEX) 2024. The team, led by Siti Salwa Alias and supported by her colleagues Muhammad Harith Ilham Zulkifli, Masleayati Yusop, Nur Hazirah Noh@Seth, and Wan Fahmin Faiz Wan Ali, created a project called “Crystal Voyage: Dynamic Learning Approach for TVET Program.”
This project is designed to make learning more engaging and fun for students in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. By combining hands-on activities and critical thinking, the Crystal Voyage approach helps students better understand complex topics in a more interactive way. One of the highlights of their project is the Matter Matters Challenge, a game that challenges students to solve problems in a fun and exciting manner.
The team’s innovative approach caught the attention of judges at I-PHEX 2024, which is a major event where educators and researchers showcase creative ideas to improve teaching and learning. Competing against several projects from other universities, the UTM team’s work stood out for its fresh take on TVET education.
I-PHEX 2024 was held at Residensi UTMKL, Kuala Lumpur, from 19 to 20 September 2024. The event focuses on promoting new ways to improve education, particularly in engineering fields.
