JOHOR BAHRU, 18 November 2025 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly congratulates Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raja Kamarulzaman bin Raja Ibrahim from the Department of Physics for successfully securing a UTM Fundamental Research (UTM-FR) grant worth RM70,000. This achievement highlights UTM’s strong commitment to fostering high-impact research in sustainable energy and advanced materials.
His project, titled “Synthesis and Characterisation of a Hybrid Catalyst NiBaTiO₃/Al₂O₃ for Enhancing Dry Reforming of Methane Conversion by Means of Non-Thermal Plasma Technology,” focuses on developing next-generation catalysts aimed at transforming methane—one of the most potent greenhouse gases—into valuable syngas. By integrating hybrid catalyst materials with cutting-edge non-thermal plasma technology, the research seeks to significantly improve methane conversion efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
This work is expected to contribute to the global quest for cleaner energy production, offering innovative solutions aligned with sustainable development goals and Malaysia’s low-carbon aspirations.
