JOHOR BAHRU, 18 November 2025 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly congratulates Dr. Mohd Aizuddin bin Mohd Lazaldin from the Department of Biosciences for successfully securing a UTM Fundamental Research (UTM-FR) grant amounting to RM70,000. This accomplishment reflects the faculty’s strong commitment to supporting high-impact research in health sciences and biomedical innovation.

His project, titled “Elucidating the Neuroprotective Properties of Tocotrienol and Tocopherol on N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-Induced Retinal Injuries in Sprague Dawley Rats,” aims to investigate the potential of vitamin E derivatives in protecting retinal cells from chemically induced damage. By studying the mechanisms of neuroprotection offered by tocotrienol and tocopherol, the research hopes to provide new insights that could contribute to future therapeutic strategies for retinal degeneration and vision-related disorders.

This study represents a significant advancement in understanding natural compounds with biomedical value, reinforcing UTM’s growing contribution to health-related research.
