Johor Bahru – A multidisciplinary research team from the Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), led by Dr. Huszalina Hussin, has successfully secured a Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) MRUN Grant (Phase 1/2025) amounting to RM237,565.00 from the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), Malaysia.
The funded project, titled “Pemindahan Teknologi Pemprosesan Sisa Kupang Berasaskan Penyelidikan Universiti Ke Arah Keusahawanan Hijau Komuniti Pesisir”, focuses on transferring university-based research into practical technologies for processing mussel waste, with the aim of fostering green entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods among coastal communities. The initiative aligns with national aspirations to strengthen the blue economy, reduce environmental waste, and enhance community resilience through innovation-driven solutions.
The project brings together experts from multiple faculties and institutions, reflecting a strong collaborative approach. Team members include Prof. Ir. Ts. Through the KTP MRUN framework, the project is expected to deliver tangible socio-economic impact by enabling coastal communities to adopt sustainable processing technologies, create value-added products, and reduce environmental burdens associated with shellfish waste. It also strengthens UTM’s role as a key driver of knowledge transfer, community engagement, and sustainable innovation.
