JOHOR BAHRU, 21 May 2026 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), successfully hosted an inbound mobility programme involving a delegation of students from Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Indonesia, from 17 to 21 May 2026. The programme was organised in collaboration with UTM International to strengthen academic networking, research collaboration, and intercultural engagement between the two institutions.

The five-day programme provided UB students with valuable exposure to the teaching and learning environment at the Faculty of Science, UTM. Participants had the opportunity to interact with UTM students and academics, gain insights into academic practices, and participate in discussions related to ongoing research activities. The programme also facilitated data collection activities for research projects being conducted by the visiting students.

Among the key activities conducted throughout the programme were visits to the Department of Mathematical Sciences, campus tours around UTM, engagement sessions with UTM students, and survey-based research activities involving the university community. The delegation also visited several locations around Johor Bahru and held a meeting with the Indonesian Students Association (PPI UTM), fostering stronger cultural and social connections among students.

The programme enabled UTM students to further develop important graduate attributes, including effective communication, leadership, event management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills through direct interaction and knowledge-sharing with their counterparts from Indonesia. Such exchanges contribute significantly to the development of global competencies and cross-cultural understanding among students.

Despite the implementation of UTM’s Work From Home (WFH) arrangements on selected weekdays, all planned activities were successfully carried out. The visiting students were able to conduct their survey and research activities as scheduled, ensuring the objectives of the programme were achieved.

The Faculty of Science hopes that similar mobility initiatives will continue in the future as part of ongoing efforts to internationalise higher education, promote academic collaboration, and strengthen the longstanding relationship between UTM and Universitas Brawijaya.
