Skudai, Malaysia – October 3, 2024 – Researchers at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have developed an innovative and cost-effective livestock feed called MoringaPro Pellet, designed to address rising feed costs and environmental challenges. This breakthrough product, made primarily from Moringa oleifera, offers a high-protein, nutritionally rich, and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional livestock feed.

The MoringaPro Pellet has been developed by a research team led by Dr. Mira Binti Panadi from UTM’s Faculty of Science, in collaboration with Brahman Bagus Enterprise. The team integrates Moringa oleifera, known for its rich protein content, with Total Mixed Ration (TMR) techniques to create a balanced, digestible feed suitable for cattle, goats, sheep, and horses.

“We developed this product with the goal of providing farmers with a cost-effective, sustainable, and locally sourced feed solution,” said Dr. Mira. “It not only reduces reliance on expensive imported ingredients like soybean meal but also promotes better livestock health and productivity.”

Key Features:

  • High Protein Content: Moringa oleifera serves as a natural, nutrient-rich protein source.
  • Cost-Effective: The pellets cut feed costs by up to 74% compared to conventional feeds.
  • Sustainability: By utilizing locally sourced Moringa, the product reduces environmental impact and supports sustainable agriculture.
  • Enhanced Animal Health: The balanced nutrition improves livestock growth, digestion, and overall productivity.

The MoringaPro Pellet is designed to meet the growing global demand for sustainable and plant-based animal feeds, addressing both economic and environmental concerns in livestock farming. By reducing dependence on imported feed ingredients, it offers a promising solution for small-scale farmers and large-scale commercial livestock operations alike.

With growing interest in organic and natural food production, the product is poised to make a significant impact in both local and international markets, particularly in regions looking to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable farming practices.

Market Potential

  • Ideal for a wide range of livestock, including cattle, goats, sheep, and horses.
  • Applicable in feed manufacturing and agricultural supply chains.
  • Supports the global trend toward sustainable, plant-based feed options.

The UTM research team, which includes Dr. Rahaina Binti Ridzuan and Dr. Lukman Hakim Bin Ismail, is optimistic that MoringaPro Pellet will pave the way for new innovations in the animal feed industry and contribute to the global movement toward sustainable agricultural development.
