Ir. Ts. Dr. Wan Rosmiza Wan Dagang Leads Award-Winning Medical Research on Wound Healing

The Faculty of Science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has continued its tradition of excellence, as Ir. Ts. Dr. Wan Rosmiza Wan Dagang from the Department of Biosciences was awarded the Bronze Medal at the Industrial Art & Technology Exhibition (INATEX) 2024. Her innovative project, titled “ProDerm: Protease Debridement Cream,” focuses on medical solutions for wound care, specifically improving the efficiency and safety of debridement procedures.

The research team, consisting of Dr. Haryati Jamaluddin, Julia Yunus (PhD student), and Dr. Md Anuar Jonet (MGVI), developed ProDerm as a protease-based cream that accelerates the natural healing process by removing dead tissue from wounds in a gentle and controlled manner. This innovation holds significant promise in the field of healthcare, offering an effective alternative to conventional methods of wound care management.

The recognition of ProDerm at INATEX 2024 underscores the importance of medical research that contributes to patient care and highlights UTM’s role in advancing healthcare innovations. By bridging the gap between research and practical application, UTM continues to lead in producing impactful medical technologies.

The Faculty of Science proudly congratulates Ir. Ts. Dr. Wan Rosmiza Wan Dagang and her team for their remarkable contribution to the field of wound healing and for bringing home the Bronze Medal. Their work serves as an inspiration for ongoing medical research and innovation at UTM.
