Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) continues to achieve academic excellence, with Associate Professor Dr. Fong Wan Heng from the Department of Mathematical Sciences receiving the Gold Medal at the Semarak International Research Article Competition (SIRAC) 2024 II. Her winning article, titled “Spectral Bipartition via Gap Cut on DNA Sequences,” has earned top honors for its innovative approach to analyzing genetic sequences.
Dr. Fong’s research explores the use of spectral bipartition techniques, a mathematical method that applies graph theory, to cut gaps in DNA sequences.
