Johor Bahru, 8 May 2024 – As part of the FS Research Month 2024, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Faculty of Science (FS) successfully organized a workshop titled “Tips and Tricks to Get Published”. The workshop, led by Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin and Prof. Dr. Sharidan Shafie, focused on improving research publication outcomes through personalized mentoring, strategies for selecting appropriate journals, and the ethical use of AI tools in manuscript preparation. The event aimed to motivate researchers to pursue timely submissions and instill confidence in navigating the publishing process.
Participants benefited from one-to-one mentoring sessions, receiving tailored guidance on their manuscripts and recommendations for journal submissions, including journals like MATEMATIKA. The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with all participants highly rating the speakers and reporting increased motivation to publish their work.
The event’s agenda included personalized mentoring, manuscript feedback, and a talk by the Chief Editor of the MATEMATIKA journal, focusing on strategies to enhance research output and successfully submit papers to high-impact journals. Participants also explored the ethical use of AI tools in research and publishing.
The workshop had a significant impact, motivating participants to actively pursue their publication goals, with a commitment to submit at least one article from each research group by the end of 2024. Based on the positive feedback, future workshops are planned to include more facilitators and a larger audience to maximize the event’s benefits.
