Johor Bahru, June 25, 2024 – The Faculty of Science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) successfully conducted a virtual session titled “Talk on MoU MoA” as part of the FS Research Year 2024. The event, held via Webex, attracted 17 lecturers from various disciplines, including Biosciences, Chemistry, and Mathematical Sciences.

Directed by Dr. Siti Mariam Norrulashikin, the session aimed to familiarize participants with the application process for Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs). Delivered by ChM. Dr. Mohd Firdaus Abdul Wahab, the talk provided a detailed overview of the procedural steps and documentation required for successful MoU and MoA applications, empowering faculty members to enhance their research collaborations.

Participants gained practical insights into how MoUs and MoAs can facilitate both local and international partnerships, offering them a clear understanding of the systematic approach to applying for and managing these agreements. The session also highlighted strategic planning tips for future collaborations, emphasizing the importance of cross-disciplinary and international research partnerships. Key benefits included improved knowledge of procedures, practical tips for managing collaborations, and strategic planning insights to enhance academic visibility and access to resources.

Although attendance was lower than expected, feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Participants suggested future hands-on workshops and recommended scheduling such sessions during semester breaks to increase participation. The organizing team, led by Dr. Siti Mariam, is planning more interactive sessions and targeted outreach to further promote the program and support faculty members in securing new collaborative opportunities.
