03 October 2024, Johor Bahru<\/em> \u2013 In line with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia\u2019s (UTM) commitment to \u201cInnovating Solutions,\u201d<\/em> a team from the Faculty of Science has been awarded the Bronze Medal at the New Academia Learning Innovation (NALI) 2024<\/strong> for their project, \u201cMicroalgae: Future Sustainability, A STEM Program for Standard Six Primary School Students.\u201d<\/em> This program exemplifies the faculty\u2019s mission of \u201cWhere Great Minds are Nurtured,\u201d<\/em> by inspiring young students to engage with science and sustainability.<\/p>\n Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azimah Mohd Zain, with team members Dr. Abdul Fatah A. Samad, Dr. Mohd Aizuddin Mohd Lazaldin, Dr. Mohd Farizal Ahmad Kamaroddin, Dr. Mohd Helmi Sani, and Dr. Zarita Zakaria, the project introduces primary school students to the role of microalgae in environmental sustainability. Through hands-on STEM activities, students explore the potential of microalgae as a renewable resource, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability from an early age.<\/p>\n The NALI 2024 event, hosted by UTM under the theme \u201cEmpowering Teaching and Research Innovation through Innovation,\u201d<\/em> celebrates transformative educational practices that bridge science and society.
