The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly hosted the latest instalment of its Science Seminar Series on Tuesday, 10th July 2025<\/strong>, featuring Distinguished Professor Dr. Michael C. Breadmore<\/strong> from the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science (ACROSS), University of Tasmania, Australia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Held at UTM HELIXs, C17<\/strong>, the seminar titled \u201c3D Printed Devices for Chemical Analysis and Separations\u201d<\/strong> attracted a wide audience of researchers, academics, and postgraduate students eager to explore cutting-edge applications of 3D printing in analytical chemistry. The session ran from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM<\/strong>, with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points provided to attendees.<\/p>\n Prof. Breadmore, a renowned analytical chemist, is currently Professor of Chemistry and Director of ACROSS<\/strong>. His illustrious career spans postdoctoral appointments in the USA, Switzerland, and the UK<\/strong>, and he has been the recipient of prestigious fellowships, including the ARC QEII Fellowship (2009)<\/strong> and ARC Future Fellowship (2014)<\/strong>. He achieved the rank of Full Professor at the age of 38 and was awarded a Doctor of Science in 2017<\/strong> for his outstanding scientific contributions.<\/p>\n Throughout his career, Prof. Breadmore has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers<\/strong>, received more than 10,000 citations<\/strong>, and holds an impressive h-index of 51<\/strong>. He is named on six patents<\/strong>, several of which have been commercialised by companies including deltaDOT, Trajan Scientific and Medical, GreyScan<\/strong>, and Eco Detection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In addition to his research, he is an active member of the global scientific publishing community. He currently serves as Editor of Analytica Chimica Acta<\/strong> and has held editorial positions with Journal of Chromatography A<\/strong>, Australian Journal of Chemistry<\/strong>, and several other esteemed journals.<\/p>\n The seminar offered an inspiring look into the transformative role of 3D printing technologies in developing innovative, low-cost, and high-performance devices for chemical analysis and separation science. The Faculty of Science extends its appreciation to Prof. Breadmore for his valuable insights and contributions to advancing the frontier of analytical chemistry.<\/p>\n
