Johor Bahru, 11 August 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), through the Faculty of Science, proudly achieved outstanding success at the International Development, Research & Innovation Exhibition (iDRIVE2025)<\/em> organised by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), winning two Gold Awards and the prestigious Titan of Innovation Award. This recognition highlights the faculty\u2019s commitment to advancing impactful research and sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n One of the winning projects, \u201cBioShield Glass: A Water-Saving, Dirt-Fighting Innovation\u201d<\/em>, was led by Dr. Nurhafizah Hasim together with her team. The project introduces a novel glass coating designed to minimise dirt accumulation while reducing the need for frequent cleaning, thereby conserving water and lowering maintenance costs. With potential applications in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, the innovation addresses both environmental and economic concerns by combining scientific creativity with real-world practicality.<\/p>\n The second project, \u201cBioCell Green: A Safer Future with Cellulose-Based Bioplastics\u201d<\/em>, led by Dr. Nur Hidayah Ahmad and her team, focuses on the development of bioplastics derived from cellulose as an alternative to petroleum-based plastics. By offering environmentally friendly and safer material options, the project contributes to addressing the global challenge of plastic pollution. Its promising impact and strong alignment with sustainability goals not only earned it a Gold Award but also elevated it to receive the prestigious Titan of Innovation Award, the highest recognition of the exhibition.<\/p>\n The success at iDRIVE2025 reflects the Faculty of Science\u2019s continuous efforts in producing innovations that integrate scientific excellence with societal needs.
