The program was led by <strong data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"723\">Dr. Noraihan Afiqah Rawi<\/strong> with the support of the STEMaths &amp; Community Committee, aiming to address learning gaps in mathematics among secondary school students by leveraging academic-community partnerships.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"1472\">This initiative was executed in two phases. The <strong data-start=\"955\" data-end=\"970\">first phase<\/strong>, held from <strong data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1004\">10\u201311 October 2024<\/strong>, involved direct teaching sessions conducted by UTM lecturers and final-year undergraduate students for <strong data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1140\">40 selected Form 2 students<\/strong>. The content focused on core algebra topics \u2013 specifically factorization and expansion \u2013 which were identified as areas of concern through discussions with mathematics teachers at SMK Pulai Jaya. Students participated in interactive group activities designed to deepen conceptual understanding and build problem-solving confidence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1474\" data-end=\"1997\">In the <strong data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1497\">second phase<\/strong>, conducted on <strong data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1531\">23\u201324 June 2025<\/strong>, the program evolved into a peer-led model. Students who had previously attended Phase I (now in Form 3) were appointed as <strong data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1671\">facilitators<\/strong>, guiding a new batch of Form 2 students. UTM lecturers assumed an advisory role, observing and mentoring the facilitators throughout the sessions. This structure not only reinforced the facilitators\u2019 mastery of mathematical concepts but also nurtured leadership, communication, and mentoring skills among the student mentors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1999\" data-end=\"2500\">The impact of this two-tiered knowledge transfer model was significant. Academic performance analysis showed noticeable improvement in mathematics exam results among participants of both phases. Feedback collected through post-workshop surveys indicated that students appreciated the engaging, hands-on approach and found the peer-led format more relatable and less intimidating. Meanwhile, the facilitators expressed increased confidence in both their mathematical abilities and interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2502\" data-end=\"2973\">Beyond academic gains, the workshop fostered a culture of mutual support, active learning, and student empowerment. By positioning students as both learners and teachers, the initiative promoted a sustainable, scalable model for enhancing STEM education in schools. It also strengthened ties between UTM and local education stakeholders, including the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ), SMK Pulai Jaya\u2019s Mathematics Panel, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2975\" data-end=\"3188\">The Mathematics Reinforcement Workshop stands as a testament to UTM&#8217;s commitment to community-driven knowledge transfer, and its broader mission to transform lives through education, mentorship, and collaboration.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3190\" data-end=\"3323\">For more information on impactful KTP projects, visit: <a data-start=\"3245\" data-end=\"3323\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_new\" class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/science.utm.my\/utmfsresearch\/\">https:\/\/science.utm.my\/utmfsresearch\/<span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"ms-0.5 inline-block align-middle leading-none\"><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"3325\" data-end=\"3328\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"3330\" data-end=\"3361\"><\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"3362\" data-end=\"3482\"><strong data-start=\"3366\" data-end=\"3482\">Bengkel Pengukuhan Matematik: UTM Perkasa Pelajar SMK Pulai Jaya Melalui Pendekatan STEM Berasaskan Rakan Sebaya<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3484\" data-end=\"3931\"><strong data-start=\"3484\" data-end=\"3509\">Johor Bahru, Jun 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Di bawah inisiatif <strong data-start=\"3531\" data-end=\"3551\">KTP@Faculty 2024<\/strong>, Jabatan Sains Matematik, Fakulti Sains, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) telah bekerjasama dengan <strong data-start=\"3654\" data-end=\"3672\">SMK Pulai Jaya<\/strong> bagi menganjurkan <strong data-start=\"3691\" data-end=\"3723\">Bengkel Pengukuhan Matematik<\/strong> yang menyasarkan pelajar Tingkatan 2 yang memerlukan bimbingan tambahan dalam subjek Matematik. Program ini diketuai oleh <strong data-start=\"3846\" data-end=\"3874\">Dr. Noraihan Afiqah Rawi<\/strong> dan disokong oleh Jawatankuasa STEMaths &amp; Community UTM.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3933\" data-end=\"4568\">Program ini dilaksanakan dalam dua fasa. <strong data-start=\"3974\" data-end=\"3990\">Fasa pertama<\/strong>, yang berlangsung pada <strong data-start=\"4014\" data-end=\"4043\">10 hingga 11 Oktober 2024<\/strong>, menumpukan kepada sesi pengajaran dan pembelajaran secara langsung yang dikendalikan oleh pensyarah dan pelajar prasiswazah tahun akhir UTM kepada <strong data-start=\"4192\" data-end=\"4218\">40 pelajar Tingkatan 2<\/strong> terpilih. Kandungan modul menekankan topik algebra \u2013 khususnya pemfaktoran dan kembangan \u2013 yang dikenal pasti sebagai kelemahan utama melalui perbincangan dengan guru-guru panitia Matematik SMK Pulai Jaya. Aktiviti dijalankan secara berkumpulan, menggunakan pendekatan interaktif yang menekankan kefahaman konsep dan keyakinan menyelesaikan masalah.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4570\" data-end=\"5087\"><strong data-start=\"4570\" data-end=\"4584\">Fasa kedua<\/strong> dilaksanakan pada <strong data-start=\"4603\" data-end=\"4625\">23 dan 24 Jun 2025<\/strong>, memperkenalkan pendekatan pemindahan ilmu berasaskan rakan sebaya. Pelajar Tingkatan 3 yang pernah mengikuti Fasa I dilantik sebagai <strong data-start=\"4760\" data-end=\"4775\">fasilitator<\/strong>, membimbing kumpulan baharu pelajar Tingkatan 2. Pensyarah UTM berperanan sebagai pemerhati dan mentor sepanjang sesi. Pendekatan ini tidak hanya mengukuhkan kefahaman fasilitator terhadap kandungan matematik, malah membangunkan kemahiran kepimpinan, komunikasi, dan pemudah cara dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5089\" data-end=\"5597\">Kesan program ini sangat memberangsangkan. Analisis prestasi peperiksaan menunjukkan peningkatan ketara dalam keputusan matematik bagi peserta kedua-dua fasa. Melalui soal selidik pasca-bengkel, para peserta menyatakan bahawa pendekatan secara langsung dan suasana pembelajaran yang santai menjadikan mereka lebih selesa untuk bertanya dan mencuba. Fasilitator pula melaporkan peningkatan keyakinan diri, bukan sahaja dalam aspek akademik tetapi juga dalam kemahiran berkomunikasi dan bekerja dalam kumpulan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5599\" data-end=\"6078\">Lebih penting, bengkel ini berjaya mewujudkan budaya saling membantu, pembelajaran aktif, dan pemerkasaan pelajar. Dengan menempatkan pelajar sebagai \u2018pembelajar dan pendidik\u2019, model ini mampu dijadikan pendekatan lestari dan mudah diperluas untuk meningkatkan pendidikan STEM di sekolah.
