Johor Bahru<\/strong> \u2014 The Department of Physics<\/strong>, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia<\/span><\/span> (UTM)<\/strong> played an active role in strengthening university\u2013industry collaboration through the successful organisation of Industrial Talks and an Industrial Visit<\/strong> in conjunction with the Faculty of Science Industrial and Innovation Showcase (SIIFS) 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n As part of the programme, an industrial visit to Ray Tech (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.<\/span><\/span><\/strong> was conducted, providing academic staff with direct exposure to real-world applications of X-ray technology. The visit included technical briefings, facility tours, and in-depth discussions on potential collaboration areas such as applied research, technology enhancement, student internships, and future academic\u2013industry partnerships. These engagements opened pathways for long-term collaboration, including prospects for joint research and memoranda of understanding.<\/p>\n Complementing the visit, the Department of Physics organised a series of Industrial Talks<\/strong> held in hybrid mode at UTM and via online platforms. The sessions featured industry professionals and alumni from leading technology-based companies, who shared insights on industrial practices, emerging technologies, and career pathways in the STEM sector. The programme was designed to equip Year 3 and Year 4 physics students with a clearer understanding of industry expectations, required technical competencies, and essential soft skills needed in today\u2019s competitive job market.<\/p>\n The initiative also highlighted the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. Through interactive sessions and knowledge sharing, students gained valuable exposure to the realities of industrial environments, while academic staff explored opportunities for collaborative research and curriculum relevance.<\/p>\n Overall, the Department of Physics\u2019 contribution to SIIFS 2025 reflects the Faculty of Science\u2019s continuous commitment to enhancing industry engagement, improving graduate employability, and fostering impactful collaborations that support innovation and national technological development.
