Johor Bahru, 31 March 2026<\/em> \u2013 The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), successfully hosted another session of its Popular Science Seminar Series 2026<\/em>, featuring an insightful talk by Dr. Shaymaa M.H. Darwish<\/strong> from the Department of Mathematical Sciences.<\/p>\n The seminar, titled \u201cContaminant Transport Modelling in Aquifers Using Green\u2019s Function Approach\u201d<\/em>, was held on 31 March 2026 at DK 1, C17, Faculty of Science. The session attracted academic staff, researchers, and students interested in environmental modelling and applied mathematics.<\/p>\n Dr. Shaymaa presented an in-depth exploration of mathematical techniques used to model contaminant movement in groundwater systems. Emphasizing the application of Green\u2019s function methods, she demonstrated how complex environmental processes can be simplified and accurately predicted using advanced analytical approaches. The talk highlighted the importance of such modelling in addressing real-world challenges related to water pollution, environmental sustainability, and resource management.<\/p>\n Participants benefited from the interdisciplinary nature of the seminar, which bridged mathematical theory with environmental applications. The session also encouraged discussions on how such modelling techniques could support future research initiatives aligned with sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n The seminar forms part of the Faculty\u2019s continuous effort to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen research culture in line with UTM\u2019s ASCEND 2030<\/strong> agenda. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours were also provided to attendees, further enhancing engagement among academic and professional participants.<\/p>\n
