JOHOR BAHRU, 18 August 2026<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of its academic staff who have been ranked among the <\/span>World\u2019s Top 5% Scientists<\/span><\/strong> in the <\/span>Scientific Rankings by SciRank Global 2025<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n This international recognition reflects the strong research performance, scholarly contributions and growing global visibility of researchers across the Faculty of Science. A total of <\/span>12 researchers<\/span><\/strong> from the Departments of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematical Sciences and Biosciences were recognised in the ranking.<\/span><\/p>\n From the <\/span>Department of Chemistry<\/span><\/strong>, the recognised scientists are <\/span>Prof. ChM. Dr. Zaiton Abdul Majid<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Prof. Dr. Madzlan Aziz<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. See Hong Heng<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Lee Siew Ling<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Roswanira Ab. Wahab<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Joazaizulfazli Jamalis<\/span><\/strong>, and <\/span>ChM. Dr. Muhammad Amirul Aizat Mohd Abdah<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Department of Physics<\/span><\/strong> is represented by <\/span>Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rashid Mohd Yusoff<\/span><\/strong>, while the <\/span>Department of Mathematical Sciences<\/span><\/strong> celebrates the recognition of <\/span>Prof. Dr. Sharidan bin Shafie<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Prof. Dr. Zainal bin Abdul Aziz<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Hisyam Lee<\/span><\/strong>, and <\/span>Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhaila Binti Ismail<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Department of Biosciences<\/span><\/strong> also recorded an excellent achievement with <\/span>Prof. Dr. Fahrul Zaman Huyop<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Prof. Dr. Shafinaz Shahir<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Prof. Dr. Zaharah Ibrahim<\/span><\/strong>, and <\/span>Assoc. Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek<\/span><\/strong> being recognised among the world\u2019s leading scientists.<\/span><\/p>\n Collectively, these achievements demonstrate the breadth and strength of scientific expertise within the Faculty of Science, encompassing chemistry, physics, mathematical sciences and biosciences. The recognition also highlights the sustained commitment of Faculty researchers to producing impactful scientific knowledge, advancing their respective disciplines and strengthening UTM\u2019s international research presence.<\/span><\/p>\n The achievement is particularly significant in supporting <\/span>UTM ASCEND 2030<\/span><\/strong>, reinforcing the University\u2019s aspiration to enhance research excellence, global prominence and high-impact scholarly contributions.
