JOHOR BAHRU, 11 August 2026<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), continued its <\/span>Science Seminar Series<\/span><\/strong> with a special session featuring distinguished academics from <\/span>Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China<\/span><\/strong>, further strengthening international academic engagement and potential research collaboration between the two institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n The seminar, held at <\/span>HELiX, C17, Faculty of Science, UTM<\/span><\/strong>, featured <\/span>Prof. Dr. Yaofeng Zhu<\/span><\/strong> and <\/span>Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chen Qian<\/span><\/strong> from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. The programme provided Faculty of Science researchers and participants with an opportunity to learn more about Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and explore emerging research in advanced functional materials.<\/span><\/p>\n Prof. Dr. Yaofeng Zhu opened the session with a presentation entitled <\/span>\u201cThe Introduction of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.\u201d<\/span><\/strong> He provided an overview of the university, its academic and research strengths, facilities, and areas of expertise. The presentation also highlighted opportunities for strengthening academic connections and developing future collaborative activities between Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and UTM.<\/span><\/p>\n The second presentation, entitled <\/span>\u201cHigh-Efficiency Atmospheric Water Harvesting via Functional Composite Fabrics,\u201d<\/span><\/strong> was delivered by <\/span>Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chen Qian<\/span><\/strong>. His presentation highlighted innovative approaches to harvesting water directly from atmospheric moisture through the development of advanced functional composite fabrics.<\/span><\/p>\n Atmospheric water harvesting has attracted increasing research interest as an alternative approach to addressing water scarcity, particularly in regions where conventional freshwater resources are limited. The use of functional materials capable of efficiently capturing and releasing atmospheric moisture offers significant potential for the development of sustainable water technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n The session also demonstrated how advances in material science and functional fabrics can contribute towards addressing global environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n Beyond knowledge sharing, the seminar provided an important platform for discussions on potential research collaboration, academic networking and future joint activities between researchers from the <\/span>Faculty of Science, UTM, and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Through the Science Seminar Series, the Faculty of Science continues to expand its international research network while providing its academic community with access to emerging scientific developments and global expertise.
