JOHOR BAHRU, 10 September 2026<\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), continued its Science Seminar Series 2026<\/strong> with a seminar entitled \u201cGenome Engineering of Cancer Phenotypes using Multigenic Epigenetic Technologies.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Pilar Blancafort<\/strong> from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and the University of Western Australia, Australia<\/strong>, who shared insights into advanced genome engineering approaches for studying and modifying cancer-related phenotypes.<\/p>\n Held at the Auditorium Al-Razi, T02, Faculty of Science, UTM<\/strong>, the seminar provided participants with exposure to emerging strategies that combine genome engineering with multigenic epigenetic technologies to better understand the complex molecular mechanisms underlying cancer.<\/p>\n During the session, Prof. Dr. Blancafort highlighted how epigenetic regulation can influence gene expression patterns associated with tumour development and progression. The seminar also demonstrated how targeted manipulation of multiple genes and regulatory pathways may provide new opportunities for investigating cancer biology and developing more precise therapeutic strategies.<\/p>\n The topic reflected the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of modern biomedical research, integrating molecular biology, genetics, epigenetics and genome engineering to address complex challenges in cancer research.<\/p>\n The seminar provided academic staff, researchers and students with an opportunity to engage with an internationally recognised researcher and broaden their understanding of cutting-edge developments in cancer genomics and epigenetic technologies.<\/p>\n Through the Science Seminar Series<\/strong>, the Faculty of Science continues to strengthen its
