JOHOR BAHRU, 1 October 2026<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), congratulates <\/span>Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Safwan Abd Aziz<\/span><\/strong> from the <\/span>Department of Physics<\/span><\/strong> for successfully securing the <\/span>ASCEND Research Prominence Grant<\/span><\/strong>, with a total funding of <\/span>RM149,000<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n The funded research project, entitled <\/span>\u201cHigh-Value Rare-Earth Photocatalysts Derived from Locally Sourced Malaysian Centrium for Laser-Enhanced Sustainable Water Treatment,\u201d<\/span><\/strong> will be conducted over a three-year period from <\/span>18 September 2026 to 17 September 2029<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n The project focuses on developing high-value rare-earth photocatalysts from locally sourced Malaysian resources and exploring their potential for laser-enhanced sustainable water treatment. The research is expected to contribute towards the development of advanced materials and innovative technologies for addressing water treatment challenges while promoting the sustainable utilisation of local resources.<\/span><\/p>\n Securing the ASCEND Research Prominence Grant reflects the Faculty of Science\u2019s continued commitment to strengthening high-impact research and supporting innovative solutions aligned with <\/span>UTM ASCEND 2030<\/span><\/strong>.
