Johor Bahru, 30th July 2024 – Alhamdulillah, the STEM Mikroalga: Kelestarian Masa Depan 2024 program was successfully conducted on 30th July 2024. This inspiring initiative, funded by the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) under the Centre for Community and Industry Network (CCIN), was organized in collaboration with Agri Season Sdn Bhd. The program was led by PM Dr. Nor Azimah Mohd Zain, with participation from Biosciences lecturers, science officers, and PhD students from the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Program Highlights
- Engaging Talks: Students explored the world of microalgae, gaining insights into its applications, benefits, and role in mitigating global warming.
- Interactive Activities: Participants identified algae species using microscopes and mobile applications, revived algae in petri dishes, and constructed light bioreactors.
- Practical Learning: Students were challenged to cultivate algae and observe its growth over two weeks.
This program provided an enriching experience, bridging knowledge from academia to students while promoting awareness of sustainable solutions. It reflects UTM’s commitment to fostering STEM education and impactful community engagement.
