25 July 2024 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), held a virtual meeting with representatives from Shandong University to discuss potential collaboration on the establishment of a Laser Centre. The meeting, held via Zoom on 25 July 2024 at 9:00 AM, brought together academic and institutional leaders from both sides.
The UTM delegation was led by Prof. Madya Dr. Shafinaz Binti Shahir, Dean of the Faculty of Science, along with Prof. Madya Ts. Chm. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam bin Nik Malek, Deputy Dean (Research, Development & Innovation), and Dr. Muhammad Safwan bin Abd Aziz, Director of UTM’s Laser Centre. They were joined by the Director and staff of UTM International (UTMI), and Dato’ Seri James Wong, further highlighting the strategic importance of this potential partnership.
The discussions focused on exploring collaborative opportunities in the development of laser technology, fostering research initiatives, and strengthening ties between UTM and Shandong University. Both institutions are looking forward to leveraging their expertise in laser technology to promote innovation and scientific discovery.
