Be a Sustainable Citizen, Recycle With Oil2Wangโข
Every year, nearly 50,000 tons of used cooking oil (UCO) are not managed properly, causing pollution that hurts the environment and requires high management costs from local authorities. The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) reportedly spent more than RM6 million in 2016 to clear blocked drains caused by cooking oil that had frozen in the pipeline from the house. A recent study of residents in Pasir Gudang, Johor was reported in the Journal of Critical Reviews in 2020, a survey conducted on used cooking oil among consumers in Pasir Gudang showed that many consumers are unaware that used cooking oil can be recycled. Only 7.6% of consumers recycle their used cooking oil. The remaining 92.4% disposed of the UCO into the sink, drain, or trash bin.
Innovative Products by Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam: Advancing Health and Agriculture
Dr. Nik has developed a range of innovative products, leveraging the synergy of natural resources and nanotechnology. One of the standout products is the Persicaria Series, designed to harness the antibacterial and wound-healing properties of natural extracts.
Key products include:
McSNAPS: A Mas Cotek-silver nanoparticles spray designed to relieve pain and provide antibacterial protection, making it effective for wound care and skin infections.
DUAL-ANTIBAX Cleansing Soap: This antibacterial soap combines dual-action cleaning and protection, ensuring both hygiene and skin health.
SILVERN: Kesum-infused silver nanoparticles act as an effective antibacterial agent, promoting faster wound healing.
SEZANNE: A unique antibacterial talcum powder that combines bio-silver nanoparticles and zeolite, offering skin protection against harmful bacteria.
A.C.T (Antimicrobial Compact Technology): A portable, antimicrobial solution that provides compact wound care, ideal for everyday use.
SOOTHE: Silica incorporated into hydroxyapatite creates a bioactive material, suitable for dental and bone regeneration applications.
In addition to healthcare innovations, Dr. Nik Nizam has developed sustainable agricultural products:
NPK-Organo-Zeolite: An advanced controlled-release fertilizer that optimizes nutrient delivery, reducing environmental impact while enhancing plant growth.
CRPS (Controlled Release Propagating Substrate): A substrate that ensures steady nutrient release, improving the success of plant propagation.
